2019 – Alles wird schlechter – 2019 All will be worse

Oder?

Der renommierte Max Roser, (Our World in Data) zeigt ein ganz anderes Bild:

ENGLISH

We should be seriously worried, because everything’s getting worse.

Or?

The renowned Max Roser, (Our World in Data) shows a completely different picture:

200 years ago, around 90 percent of the world’s population lived in extreme poverty. Today, the figure is only 10 percent. Between 1990 and 2015 alone, an average of 137,000 people a day freed themselves from extreme poverty.
In 1900, only one in five was able to read, today the figure is four fifths.
More than 12 million infants died in 1990. In 2015 there will be less than 6 million.
In 1875 the average life expectancy in Germany was still under 40 years. In the meantime, it has more than doubled.
The smallpox virus Variola, which killed more than 300 million people in the 20th century, is now extinct thanks to a worldwide compulsory vaccination.
And I may add:

the number of wars and deaths has decreased significantly since 1945.

The number of terror deaths worldwide is increasing, but in Europe and the USA (after 2011) it will decrease significantly.

But the fear is many times greater than the danger. Why? We are fixated on the negative and the media knows that. They feed us bad news so that we can „stay tuned“ for at least two days. And finally, nationalist or right-wing populist heads of government (such as Hungary, Poland, Italy, Austria and the USA) are stirring up fear against foreigners. They are the real strangers in democracy.
I think we are living in the best epoch Europe has ever had.

It is time to looked twice before consuming information.

It is time that we better manage our perceived fears and focus on the issues that are really important, and that is environmental degradation, climate change, the causes of refugee movements and the nuclear threat. Don’t you agree?

I wish you a happy 2019 and always positive thoughts.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
